The McDan Group has refuted assertions by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) regarding a contested parcel of land along Spintex Road in Accra. In a statement from its Communications Directorate, the company clarified that the property—located “adjacent to and opposite Action Chapel International”—is the subject of ongoing litigation and should not be debated publicly.
The Group emphasised that the matter is currently before the Court of Appeal, following an appeal it has duly filed. “For the avoidance of doubt and to set the record straight, the subject matter referenced in the publication is before a court of competent jurisdiction and remains pending before the Court of Appeal,” the statement noted.
McDan further stressed that the dispute is sub judice, urging all parties to exercise restraint and avoid public commentary that could prejudice the judicial process.
McDan Group described GACL’s publication and the narratives surrounding it as “unfortunate, premature, and calculated attempts to undermine the hard-earned reputation, credibility, and integrity of the Group and its Executive Chairman, Dr. Daniel McKorley.” The company further maintained that it has consistently operated within the confines of the law and has not acted in disregard of due process.
“We wish to state unequivocally that McDan Group remains a law-abiding Ghanaian business institution that has consistently operated within the confines of the law and with utmost respect for due process,” the statement noted. While reaffirming its commitment to the judicial process, the company rejected what it described as attempts to create a false impression of wrongdoing while the case is yet to be determined by the courts.
The Group also urged the public, business partners, stakeholders, and prospective investors to “treat the publication and related misleading narratives with caution and restraint pending the final determination of the matter by the courts.” McDan Group expressed confidence in the independence and integrity of Ghana’s judicial system and indicated that it would continue pursuing all lawful avenues to protect its interests and reputation.
“The Company further reserves all legal rights in respect of any statements, publications, or actions that may seek to prejudice the pending proceedings or occasion reputational harm to the Group,” the statement added.
