Mahama appoints fresh batch of ambassadors to key global capitals

President John Mahama has nominated a new group of Ambassadors and High Commissioners to represent Ghana in various global positions. This announcement was made in an official statement signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama. It follows consultations with the Council of State and indicates the administration’s intention to refresh Ghana’s foreign policy in light of a new political era.

Among those nominated are the following prominent figures:

  • Mona Helen Kabuki Quartey, a former Minister and respected economist, who has been appointed to lead Ghana’s mission in Italy.
  • Dr. Kwame Ampofo, a seasoned energy expert, was nominated for the position in Hungary.
  • Paul Evans Aidoo, a veteran politician, who will head to Kenya.
  • Magnus Kofi Amoatey, a former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has been named Ghana’s envoy to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Additionally, Atta Kojo Choi, the Ambassador-designate for South Korea, moved to Ghana at the age of 14 and has since become a naturalized Ghanaian.

The Presidency has instructed relevant agencies to initiate the formal processes to facilitate the appointments. These nominations are expected to undergo further vetting and confirmation procedures in line with constitutional protocols.
