Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, an NPP flagbearer aspirant, has asserted that former Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia is irrelevant to him, declaring that Bawumia “does not exist” in his world. “I have no time for Dr. Bawumia. In my life, he does not exist, because if he did, I might commit a crime. That is how I see it,” Agyapong remarked. He implied that Bawumia was responsible for controversial comments made by the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), though he chose not to provide further details.
Agyapong further criticised what he described as internal efforts within the party to sway the forthcoming flagbearer election. “I do not have time for them, but that does not mean they have to rig the election. I believe in the structures, and I know all the Electoral Commission officials my opponents have engaged with. They plan to use the party’s internal security to humiliate anyone who comes close,” he stated.
Recalling an earlier incident at the residence of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, Agyapong said his words had been distorted on social media. “Some time ago, something happened at the residence of former President Akufo-Addo. I mentioned a certain man’s name; there was nobody there when I left. The next day, it was posted on social media, but I do not have anything against anybody,” he said.
In a recent interview on UTV, he expressed disappointment over what he perceives as a lack of recognition for his past contributions to the party.
“Did I not campaign for him during the recent election? After that, did he even call me to appreciate my efforts? His followers were even insulting me. The only loyal person from his camp was NAPO. I took him to my warehouse and gave out items freely. He had young boys who claimed that I never campaigned,” he stated.
