President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo – Addo has announced that a permanent barracks will be established in Bazua in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region to fight the growing threats of terrorism. President Akufo-Addo acknowledges the terrorist threats emanating from neighboring Burkina Faso but assured the chiefs and people of Bawku that government will ensure that they are safe and secure.

The president is on a two-day official tour of the Region and was at the Bawku Naba’s palace on Monday, June 21.

Through a spokesperson, Naba Abugago Azorka Asigri II appealed to President Akufo-Addo to beef up security, especially at the borders, to protect lives and property in the face of terrorism. The appeal comes in the wake of an alert issued by the Ghana Police Service of imminent attacks by some bandits who have infiltrated the northern parts of the country.

In his response, the president underscored some of the measures government is taking to strengthen the security agencies along the borders with Burkina Faso.

“I am happy to inform you that a permanent barracks is going to be established here in this area to be able to address the issue of terrorism,” he announced.
