Former GRA boss, two others arrested over SML contracts

Three former high-ranking officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), including the immediate past Commissioner-General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, are currently in the custody of the Office of the Special Prosecutor. This is part of an ongoing investigation into the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) scandal.

Also detained are Dr. Isaac Crentsil and Christian Tetteh Sottie, both former top officials of the GRA. According to a statement from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, these arrests are related to suspected corruption and corruption-related offences concerning contracts between the GRA and SML for revenue assurance services.

The probe also seeks to verify SML’s claims that its services have been saving the nation significant revenues. Their arrest comes amid growing scrutiny over the controversial SML deal, which has raised questions about possible financial misconduct and irregularities in contract execution.
