Black Satellites captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was the hero of the day as he scored a brace to help Ghana clinch a fourth Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The Hearts of Oak forward scored at either side of half time to ensure the West Africans celebrated their Independence Day as champions again.

Uganda started the game brightly and could have taken the lead after just five minute when Derrick Kakooza lofted the ball over Danlad Ibrahim, only to miss narrowly.

Ghana responded to Uganda’s threat coming close from set pieces, with a double hit to the crossbar. Philimon Baffour met a Fatawu Issahaku corner which hit the bar before the rebound from Emmanuel Essiam also hit the crossbar.

Dangerous from corners, Ghana made it count after captain Daniel Barnieh met Fatawu’s cross at the near post with a flicking touch.

Uganda’s Ivan Asaba weaved his way through the middle before firing high.

Moments later, goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim had to receive treating after colliding with Ugandan forward Kakooza.

The Black Satellites kept their composure and went into the break with the lead.

The West Africans returned from the break very determined and just five minutes after restart Daniel Barnieh doubled the lead.

The Hearts of Oak forward coolly slotted home after Percious Boah’s paaa took a deflection a Uganda defender.

Coach Karim Zito brought on Emmanuel Agyemang Duah for Mohammed Suleiman as the Black Satellites looked at mainting their lead.

The Ugandans began to take control of the game and Derick Kakooza nearly halved the deficit, after a quick spin and strike.

The Young Hippos has another opportunity to strike one back following a defensive mishap but goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim quickly picked the ball he initially dropped.

With fifteen minutes remain, Ghana made two quick changes with Frank Boateng replacing Percious Boah and Mathew Anim Cudjoe coming on for Patrick Mensah.

The Black Satellites comfortably controlled the last ten minutes, dominating possession.

The Black Satellites are now four times champions of the competition, join second with Egypt at this level.
