The Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Pastor Mensa Otabil, has encouraged single individuals to enter into marriage without waiting to amass wealth first. In a widely noted sermon, Pastor Otabil challenged the common belief that financial stability is a requirement for marriage.
He shared a personal story, revealing that he wasn’t wealthy when he married his wife, to the extent that he had to paint a bench white to use as furniture in their home.
“If you’re waiting to become rich before getting married, then your priorities are not in order,” Pastor Otabil stated in a viral video. “You don’t want to marry, but you’re living together. You want the benefits of marriage without going through the proper process. Be courageous and get married.” Pastor Otabil emphasized that the church is ready to bless couples who want a simple marriage ceremony, free from the pressures of extravagant celebrations.
“Set the date. If you’re afraid of a veil, don’t wear one; if you’re nervous about a gown, don’t. Just come to the church office and say, ‘This is the woman I want, and this is the man I want.’ We ask, ‘Do you?’ and you say, ‘I do.’ That’s it. Then, you start planning your life together, and you’ll find that the battles you face become easier to manage,” he concluded.
