Ato Forson, Jinapor, Haruna and three more of President Mahama’s nominees approved as Ministers

Parliament has confirmed the appointments of three additional ministerial nominees: Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education, Kwame Governs Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways, and Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture. These nominees underwent a thorough vetting process by the Appointments Committee yesterday, which evaluated their qualifications, experience, and plans for tackling challenges in their fields. Following extensive discussions, the committee unanimously endorsed their confirmation.

The plenary session, chaired by Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Amoako Asiamah today saw extensive discussions on the nominees’ credentials and policy proposals. Both the Majority and Minority commended the appointees for their competence and character, ultimately reaching a consensus. The approved nominees are expected to play pivotal roles in advancing the government’s development agenda

This approval follows Parliament’s earlier endorsement of key nominees, including; Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson as Minister for Finance, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister for Energy and Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice. These appointments were also confirmed under the guidance of Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Amoako Asiamah in the absence of Speaker Alban Bagbin. This brings the total number of ministerial nominees approved so far to six.
