Asantehemaa’s one-week observation slated for August 21

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has announced the preparations for a one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 21, 2025. This follows the official announcement of the Asante Queen’s passing, which occurred on Thursday, August 7, 2025. The observance will take place at the forecourt of the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

Mourners from across Ghana and beyond are expected to gather to pay their final respects to the Asante monarch, who served the Ashanti Kingdom for eight dedicated years. Palace officials have stated that the event will adhere to traditional Asante customs, with chiefs, queen mothers, government officials, and members of the public expected to attend in mourning attire.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III was revered for her wisdom, compassion, and commitment to preserving Ashanti traditions. Her passing has been described as a “great loss” to both the Kingdom and the nation.
