Former traditional priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, commonly known as Nana Agradaa, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Circuit Court in Accra. Her sentencing follows a conviction for fraudulent advertising and defrauding by false pretences.
Nana Agradaa was found guilty of luring victims through a televised broadcast in 2022, during which she falsely claimed to possess spiritual powers that could double money. This deceit led numerous individuals to part with significant amounts of money, hoping for miraculous financial returns that were never realised.
The court’s ruling represents a significant step in the fight against fraudulent spiritual schemes and deceptive religious practices. Before the sentencing, the court mandated a pregnancy test, in accordance with judicial procedures, which confirmed that she was not pregnant, allowing the sentencing to proceed.
