German President arrives in Accra for three-day state visit

The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, arrived in Ghana on Sunday evening for a three-day state visit. He was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the German Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Frederik Landshöft. During his visit, President Steinmeier, accompanied by a high-level delegation, is scheduled to hold important meetings with his host, President John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Presidency in Accra.

The official program will commence on Monday with President Steinmeier’s inspection of a full military Guard of Honour at the Forecourt of The Presidency. President Steinmeier and his host, President Mahama, will hold a closed-door meeting before joining their respective delegations for bilateral talks in the Credentials Room. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Ghana-Germany relations, particularly in areas of trade, investment, technology, and development cooperation.

A State Luncheon will be held in honour of President Steinmeier and his delegation at the Presidential Banquet Hall in the afternoon. President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi on Tuesday, where he is scheduled to meet the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II. He is also scheduled to join other activities before his departure on Tuesday evening.
