Bagbin pledges enhanced leadership following Mahama’s endorsement

Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has reaffirmed his dedication to Ghana’s democratic governance following President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s endorsement of him for a second term. President-elect Mahama, in consultation with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Leadership and National Executives, directed the nomination of Bagbin as the Speaker for the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

In response, Speaker Bagbin expressed profound gratitude to the President-elect, the National Executives, and the NDC Parliamentary Leadership. He acknowledged the trust reposed in him as both a significant honour and an onerous responsibility.

“I am deeply humbled by His Excellency’s confidence in my ability to lead the august House as we begin a new chapter in our nation’s democratic journey,” Bagbin stated. Reflecting on his extensive service to Parliament and the people of Ghana, Bagbin reiterated his unwavering commitment to the principles of justice, fairness, and respect for the rule of law.

“As Speaker of the 9th Parliament, I will continue to uphold these values and ensure that the Ninth Parliament operates with the highest standards of integrity, transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness,” he affirmed.
