The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that parts of the Eastern, Tema, Accra East, Accra West, Volta, and Ashanti regions will experience power outages on Tuesday, June 9, due to planned maintenance works and the resolution of technical faults in other areas. According to ECG, these scheduled exercises are intended to enhance service delivery and ensure a more reliable electricity supply nationwide.
In the Eastern Region, supply will be interrupted between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Pikiku, Mame Krobo, Tease, Forifori, Donkorkrom, Amankwah, Asanyansu, Ekye, Adawso, Bruben, and surrounding communities. In the Tema Region, outages will occur from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Communities 3 and 5, New York, Switzerland, Aviation, Emef Estates (Lashibi), High Tension, Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono Estates, Jotafa, Jubail Hospital, Tsopoli, Agortor, Shilo, Luta, Nana Farms, Atlantic Quarries, and nearby areas.
For the Accra East Region, electricity supply will be suspended between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. in parts of Nanakrom, Little Roses, Akporman, Boi, Seseme, Ashongman, Bank of Ghana, and adjoining communities. Customers in Darkuman, Kokompe, Israel Park, Israel Filling Station, Ayigbe Junction and surrounding areas in the Accra West Region are expected to be without power from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to scheduled maintenance works.
In the Volta Region, outages are expected from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kopeiya, Nakyikope, parts of Akatsi Town, Ave Town, Dzodze and neighbouring communities.
The Ashanti Region will be affected by multiple maintenance exercises. One exercise, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will affect communities including Nerebehi, Adankwame, Kontomire, Asakraka, Mfensi, Mpasatia, Barekese, Offinso, Kwamang, Kodie, Akrofrom, Aduman and several others.
Additional maintenance works in the region from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. will affect Atonsu, Gyinyase, Ahinsan Estates, Kotei and Chirapatre, while another exercise will disrupt supply to Oseiakrom, Denyaaifokrom, Kwame Nkwanta, Safokrom, Sumkyreikrom, Omandwareye, Yawhemekrom, Atobrakrom, Siabotare and other surrounding communities. Separately, ECG reported fault-related outages in parts of the Western, Accra West and Ashanti West regions.
According to the company, a broken high-tension pole at Ankasa has cut power supply to Asemkrom, Jema, Boinso, Omanpe, Kwahu, Atokosue, Nkwanta, Enchi Township, Elubo, Nyankamam, Akontonbra, New Yakasi, Old Yakasi, Adjakaa, Achimfo, Abokyia and nearby communities in the Western Region.
In the Accra West Region, a technical fault at the Nsawam Primary Station has disrupted electricity supply to Hebron, Medie, Samsam, Satellite, Koleman, and surrounding communities. Similarly, a transformer malfunction at the Adum Central Business Centre near Old Melcom has cut power to parts of the central business district and adjoining areas in the Ashanti West Region.
“The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) regrets the inconvenience caused to affected customers,” the company stated, urging residents and businesses in scheduled maintenance zones to make alternative arrangements for power-dependent activities during the outage periods.
ECG noted that engineers are working diligently to resolve the technical challenges and restore supply to impacted areas as quickly as possible. The utility provider further advised the public to report electrical hazards promptly and to treat all fallen power lines as live and dangerous.
The company assured customers that electricity will be restored immediately upon completion of the planned maintenance works and the rectification of reported faults.
